When I was given the opportunity to review the Desklab Portable Monitor. I jumped at the chance to see how this ultra-portable monitor could change my life. After just three days of using this portable monitor, I’m hooked! Not only did it change my daily work habits. But it improved my play habits as well – keep reading to find out how!
Why I Bought This?
As a writer, I spend lots of time at my computer working on different projects. My workload is always changing. So often times I don’t know exactly how long my day will be at any given moment. Because of that, it’s difficult to set aside dedicated times to eat or do other things that keep me productive—my work is just there with me all day. I have found that a handy portable monitor has made a big difference in my ability to focus and stay on task throughout my workday. Here’s why…
How is it Different From Other Monitors in the Market?
The Stand & Pivot feature is something that sets it apart from other monitors in its class. The stand and pivot features offer a range of adjustments to help users work more comfortably and productively. Other monitors do not offer these features, making them less versatile when working at different locations. The stand is built sturdy so you can leave it in place between uses or if you are traveling, while still ensuring that it will stay put on your desk. It also pivots back towards you if required to facilitate better ergonomics during longer periods of use. Stand & Pivot monitors help create a more productive environment because they allow users to adjust their monitor based on where they are working (standing or sitting). Plus they give users options to switch up their setup throughout their day as needed.
How Does it Work?
The DeskLab portable monitor can connect to your computer via HDMI or USB-C ports and will provide a seamless extension of your desktop in up to 4K resolution. By connecting to your laptop you are essentially improving productivity on the go. A wireless Keyboard and Mouse (not included) can be connected seamlessly through Bluetooth technology eliminating wired cords from the equation altogether. The USB hub allows you to connect up to two devices such as a speaker and flash drive at once. Even though it has been said that 4K is unnecessary for viewing on smaller screen sizes as resolutions get higher PPI increases which make text look crisper and images more defined but when using multiple windows at once seeing more content is a useful benefit especially while being mobile with limited space available.
The typical smartphone screen is just too small to be an ideal solution for many productivity apps. Luckily, there are plenty of portable monitors that let you extend your screen real estate. We’ve tried out a few and it’s time to tell you which ones work and which don’t. I test drove three portable monitors that attach to your laptop via HDMI or USB-C: The Dell UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 4K Monitor (UP2718Q), The Lenovo ThinkVision X24 Pro 24′′ 5ms USB-C monitor, and The DeskLab portable monitor with a built-in battery (1920×1080). Each has its pros and cons but we think one stands out from the rest based on performance and value.
